Merry Christmas everyone, and gather ’round for a funny story.
This morning, Christmas day, (the spirits have done their work in one night!) I got up early and since we don’t have a fireplace, turned on the gas furnace and put on the yule log channel. For those that don’t know, it’s a video of a burning log in a fireplace that the local TV stations play, and they play Christmas music with it so you get a warm and cozy albeit oddly corny feeling of a winter’s morn.
So anyway, I’m looking through the TV channel guide, and I find not one, but four different channels with the yule log running, and with a little channel flipping I find they are all different versions.
So here’s the part I find funny. Years ago, some bright person says to himself, “Hey, lets film a fireplace for a couple of hours so people can watch it on their TV!” And his friend, who was no doubt also drinking said, “Hell yes, that’s a great idea!” Okay, that’s funny. But what’s even funnier is, at least three other people watched this video and said, “Hey, I can do that better!”
To recap, for those missing my point, it’s a log, burning in a fireplace. You seen one, you’ve pretty much seen them all.
Anyway, Merry Christmas you old building and loan!
