A Play in One Act

Untitled

Dramatis Personae ( in order of speaking)

Joannie
Dwight
God

Lights up on a bare stage, we find Joannie, Dwight, and God downstage center, God in the middle, slightly upstage of the other two.

Joannie: (to Dwight) I wonder who chopped down all these trees?

Dwight: I’m stumped.

Joannie looks at Dwight and blinks. Opens her mouth to speak, blinks again. Looks at God.

Joannie: God, what did I ever do to you?

God shuffles his feet, avoids eye contact, and looks off into the distance, whistling.

Lights fade to dark.

The End

Reminds me of some of the entries in the annual contest for shortest stories in the Tucson Weekly. Thanks for the tip on setting up my Gravatars. It works.
