The Kind of Church I Desire to Serve

Pastoral ministry is most fruitful when a church and its pastor share a common vision for the life and mission of the church. Over the years, I have been grateful to serve congregations in a variety of settings and have learned that healthy ministry grows where there is shared commitment to biblical priorities and a spirit of humility and unity.

While every church has its own unique history and culture, the following qualities describe the kind of church environment where I believe faithful ministry flourishes and where I would be honored to serve.

A Church Committed to the Authority of Scripture

A healthy church is one that recognizes the Bible as the final authority for faith and life. When a congregation values the Word of God and desires to be guided by it, the church is able to grow in wisdom, unity, and spiritual maturity.

I am grateful to serve churches that desire to hear the Scriptures taught clearly and faithfully and that seek to shape their ministries according to the truths found in God’s Word.

A Church That Values Faithful Preaching

The preaching of the Word is central to the life of the church. A congregation that gathers expectantly around the Scriptures creates an environment where believers grow in understanding and where the gospel remains at the center of church life.

It is a joy to serve among people who desire to hear God’s Word explained clearly and who seek to apply its truth to their lives.

A Church That Pursues Spiritual Growth

Healthy churches encourage believers to grow in their relationship with Christ. This growth takes place through the teaching of Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and the shared pursuit of spiritual maturity.

I value churches that encourage discipleship, foster meaningful relationships among believers, and create opportunities for people to grow in their faith together.

A Church That Encourages Servant Leadership

The New Testament describes church leadership as an act of humble service rather than personal authority. When pastors, elders, and ministry leaders work together with a spirit of humility and mutual respect, the church is strengthened, and unity is preserved.

I value environments where leaders work collaboratively, encourage one another, and seek the good of the church above personal recognition.

A Church That Develops Future Leaders

Healthy churches invest in the development of future leaders. As believers grow in their faith, they are able to serve the church in meaningful ways and help guide others toward spiritual maturity.

I believe it is important for churches to intentionally encourage and mentor individuals who demonstrate a desire to serve Christ and His church.

A Church Committed to the Mission of the Gospel

The church exists not only to nurture believers but also to proclaim the gospel to the world. Faithful churches seek to share the message of Christ within their communities and participate in the global mission of the church.

It is a privilege to serve among people who desire to see the gospel proclaimed and who seek to live as faithful witnesses of Christ in their daily lives.

A Shared Desire to Honor Christ

Ultimately, the most important quality of any church is a shared desire to honor Jesus Christ. When a congregation seeks to glorify Christ through worship, faithful teaching, loving relationships, and gospel mission, the church becomes a powerful witness to the grace and truth of the gospel.

It is my desire to serve in partnership with a church that seeks to honor Christ above all else and to faithfully carry out the mission He has entrusted to His people.
